When traveling to the world’s top wine regions and especially if time is limited, how great it is to be able to turn to a resource which lists the world’s top wine tourism destinations?
That ‘resource’ is the ‘World’s 50 Best Vineyards’ (formerly known as the ‘World’s Best Vineyards’)
What is the ‘World’s 50 Best Vineyards’
Each year, William Reed publishes the ‘World's 50 Best Vineyards’ as part of the ‘50 Best’ brand, an impressive list which showcases the world’s best in terms of winery tourism - vineyards and wineries which produce superb wines (of course) but also offer the best vineyard experiences, incorporating incredible vineyard tours and wine tastings, food and wine experiences, beautiful settings and views and accommodation with the ‘wow’ factor.
The ‘50 best’ vineyards list - and the ‘51-100’ list span the best of wine tourism destinations in the world’s top wine producing countries, across 5 continents, featuring incredible architectural design, Michelin starred restaurants, ancient cellars and family-run wineries.
How is the ‘World’s 50 Best Vineyards’ list compiled?
The World’s 50 Best Vineyards ‘Academy’ provides the infrastructure for compiling the list each year, with some 700 wine travel experts voting across geographical regions, rating and ranking their top ‘vineyards’ to visit. Multiple factors are taken into account including the services offered, the facilities, the staff, the ambience - in fact everything which makes the visit a top, world-leading wine travel experience and wine tourism destination.
Who is on the ‘World’s 50 Best Vineyards’ list?
A new list is announced each year, at a gathering of the world’s top wine destinations at a special wine tourism destination, with the location changing each year.
The unveiling of the latest 2025 list took place on November 19th in Margaret River, Western Australia (in 20024 it was held at Nyetimber Estate in West Sussex, UK).
